Choose a short phrase from the following to use as inspiration for a short composition (4-8 bars), utilising word painting. Take into consideration the use of the concepts when illustrating your text.

• Structure (how many bars? Are you repeating a phrase?)

• Pitch (melody and harmony) 

• Duration (ostinato, word length/note length)

• Texture (how many layers? what are the different layers doing?)

• Dynamics (Loud or soft? Somewhere in between?)

• Tone colour (How do the words sound when spoken and sung? Are they consonant or vowel sounds? Will you use vocal sounds?)

Notate your composition in Sibelius or equivalent.
